new arrivals from our friends at SoundStageDirect

Can by Can

Can was founded in 1968 by Irmin Schmidt, Holger Czukay, Michael Karoli and Jaki Liebezeit who formed a group which would utilize and transcend all boundaries of ethnic, electronic, experimental, and modern classical music.

Can, the 11th studio album by Can was originally released in 1979. Lost during its initial release amongst the punk explosion, Can features the classic tracks “Sodom” and “Can Be”. Holger Czukay’s involvement took a back seat on this album. Can is also the last album before Can reunited with Malcolm Mooney on the reunion album, Rite Time in 1986.

The band’s powerful influence has never diminished, and their indelible mark is apparent in the bands who freely acknowledge their importance - from Portishead, James Murphy, New Order, Factory Floor, Public Image Ltd, Mogwai, Kanye West (who sampled ‘Sing Swan Song’) and Radiohead - as well as across other disciplines such as visual art and literature.

All Hands On The Bad One by Sleater-Kinney

Sleater-Kinney is an acclaimed, American rock band that formed in Olympia, Washington in 1994. The band's core lineup consists of Corin Tucker (vocals and guitar), Carrie Brownstein (guitar and vocals), and Janet Weiss (drums). Sleater-Kinney were known for their feminist, left-leaning politics, and were an integral part of the riot grrrl and indie rock scenes in the Pacific Northwest.

All Hands on the Bad One is the fifth studio album by Sleater-Kinney, originally released on May 2, 2000 by Kill Rock Stars. The album was produced by John Goodmanson and recorded from December 1999 to January 2000 at Jackpot! Studio in Portland, Oregon and John & Stu's Place in Seattle, Washington.

Upon release, All Hands on the Bad One reached number 177 on the US Billboard Top 200 chart and number 12 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. All Hands on the Bad One appeared on several end-of-year lists and received a nomination for Outstanding Music Album at the 12th Annual Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Awards. The Village Voice placed it at number 10 in its 2000 “Pazz & Jop” Critics' Poll.

The album has been freshly remastered by Greg Calbi for this release. This reissue coincides with Sub Pop’s release of remastered versions of Sleater-Kinney’s six other albums, as well as a limited-edition, deluxe vinyl box set featuring all seven albums.

AMERICAN SHARKS RELEASE SPECIAL EDITION "COLOR-YOUR-OWN" VINYL RE-PRESS

American Sharks first pressing of their debut album sold out a few weeks ago. Yesterday, the band announced on their Facebook page that they are releasing a special edition “color-your-own” vinyl re-press limited to 500 copies. They stripped the original gatefold jacket of all color, leaving just the black and white outline, and packaged the record with custom markers so you can “color-your-own."

The vinyl itself is white with black splatter to match the jacket. The custom markers are named after the bands favorite weed flavors (strawberry cough, blue dream, grape ape, green crack, pineapple kush, sweet island skunk, & hashish). To make things even more fun they are holding a coloring contest and giving away $666 to the winner. To enter the contest you have to buy the special edition re-press, use the markers they provided to color it in, and submit photos on instagram by tagging @americansharks and hash tagging #americansharks.

All We Are Self-Titled LP Up For Pre-Order

We are proud to announce the debut self-titled album release from All We Are, on February 3rd 2015.

A global gathering made up of Ireland’s Richard O’Flynn (drums), Norway’s Guro Gikling (bass) and Brazil’s Luis Santos (guitar), the up-and-coming trio won over this summer’s festivals with their languid three way vocals and atmospheric live show. With the summer under their belts they’re getting ready to release their self-titled debut album, produced by Dan Carey (Bat For Lashes, MIA, Hot Chip).

A total democracy, the band write music and lyrics together, jamming tracks and words until they are perfect. They rehearse every day in Richard’s unique living quarters in Toxteth - an abandoned school nursery of which he is the sole guardian. Most of the album was recorded in this space.

Currently prepping for support slots with London Grammar, All We Are have already been taken out on the road by Warpaint, with whom they are now good friends, and by Jungle, who discovered the band on SoundCloud. Performances at End of The Road, Port Eliot, Field Day, Reading and Leeds, Green Man and Electric Picnic have also seen them deliver electrifying sets, with their intense brand of performance featuring Richard’s stand-up drumming and an almost telepathic kind of playing, focused around a triangular, inward facing positioning of the three players.

Inspired by a shared love of hip-hop and modern soul music, Guro calls their sound “psychedelic boogie”, born of long, late nights and inspired by the great outdoors. Dreamy melodies, supple psychedelics and gorgeous midnight disco grooves – this is the sublime, swirling sound of All We Are.   180gm heavyweight LP plus download code with bonus 7" featuring two exclusive tracks 'Just Give It To Me' & 'Reach'

Mannequin Pussy - Gypsy Pervert

Mannequin Pussy began as a duo, Marisa Dabice and Thanasi Paul, childhood pals turned degenerates. The band expanded to a three-piece for their debut album, Gypsy Pervert. The beefed up sound is evident from the beginning as the band shifts seamlessly from grungey punk rock blasts to more textured shoegazey pop. Clocking in at less than 20 minutes, Gypsy Pervert sways urgently back and forth.

Raw and confrontational yet still melodic and inviting, Mannequin Pussy shows off a diverse palette on their debut album.

Minus The Bear 'They Make Beer Commercials Like This' Reissue Available On Orange Vinyl

10 year anniversary orange vinyl reissue of Minus The Bear's excellent They Make Beer Commercials Like This. Featuring great songs like Fine + 2 Points!

Even if 'Beer Commercials' doesn't fit within your definition of pop music, the unorthodox energetic charm of this relatively low-profile release serves as an exciting reminder of why Minus The Bear became one of the most important and influential indie rock bands of the new century.

Cretin 'Stranger' Pre-Order Available From Relaspe

California's grindcore/death metal misfits Cretin return with their first new material of freakish, extreme metal in over eight years!   A perverted homage to the glory days of proto-grind and raw, depraved death metal, Cretin have perfected the lo-fi stylings of Repulsion, Autopsy and early Napalm Death with their highly anticipated sophomore full-length, Stranger.  Oozing with violent, buzz-saw guitars, grinding grooves and blasts, a gut-wrenching low end and utterly deviant vocals/lyrics, Stranger will bring a malignant smile to those who prefer their listening sick and twisted.
